2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Event Details

Stalin drove the Soviet Union from a backward peasant economy to the world’s second leading industrial power.  Focusing on heavy industries in lieu of a civilian-based economy, Stalin mobilized a nation to create a military that would decide the land campaign for the entire Second World War.  Mark Albertson, an expert on Stalin, will engage attendees in discussing how Stalin took power; how he held power; and as a war leader, how he led the Soviet Union to become both a nuclear and economic world power.

Mark Albertson, Military Historian, will speak on “The Rise of Stalin” at the Retired Men's Association of Greenwich meeting at 11 am, and then will lead this smaller discussion at Greenwich Library at 2:00 p.m.
