A long-time Silicon Valley insider, Roger McNamee was a mentor to Mark Zuckerberg and an early investor in Facebook. In 2006, he advised “Zuck,” as he is known to his friends, not to sell the company for $1 billion, and later recommended he hire Sheryl Sandberg. In ZUCKED, McNamee tells the story of a company and its leadership and how platforms such as Facebook, Google, YouTube, Instagram, and Amazon have undermined our democracy, violated user privacy, and gained monopoly power.
McNamee began his career at T. Rowe Price Associates. In 2004, McNamee and his partners launched Elevation Partners, an investment partnership focused on the intersection of media and technology. An active philanthropist, McNamee also performs up to 100 concerts a year in the bands Moonalice and Doobie Decibel System, in which he plays bass and guitar.
