An alarming number of small businesses today still do not have their own website and struggle with the issues surrounding beginning an effective strategy for an online presence. Google's Get Your Business Online initiative's mission is to get local businesses online and help them grow. This workshop is aimed at teaching local business the steps required to set up, claim (Google calls it "verifying"), and optimize your very own Google My Business Page. It's free! Many people are not aware that a free website awaits them, courtesy of Google. All a small business needs is a Google Account (also free), and a physical location from which they engage customers.
We'll also cover instances where a small business offers services, but not necessarily a brick and mortar shop (perhaps they run a business from home.). We'll walk through the Account set up, verification of the GMB account, tips on making your Google My Business effective, and introduce some analytic tools that allow you to monitor your progress.
