David Miliband, President and CEO of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) will be interviewed by Lori Esposito Murray from the Council on Foreign Relations, regarding his new book Rescue: Refugees and the Political Crisis of Our Time. Miliband was a Member of the British Parliament and served as the United Kingdom's Environment Secretary and Foreign Secretary before taking charge of the IRC in 2013. The IRC conducts humanitarian relief operations in more than 40 war-affected countries and refugee resettlement and assistance programs in 28 United States cities. Under Miliband's leadership, the IRC has expanded its ability to rapidly respond to humanitarian crises and meet the needs of an unprecedented number of people uprooted by conflict, war, and disaster.
The IRC and the Sesame Workshop were recently awarded the MacArthur Foundation's largest-ever grant, a $100 million prize to educate Middle Eastern refugee children.
