This week's film is Fences (2016). Directed by Denzel Washington. With Denzel Washington, Viola Davis. Based on the play by August Wilson about an embittered Pittsburgh sanitation worker who missed his chance at playing major league baseball and now tries to quash his son's similar ambitions. 139 min.

Admission to Friends Friday Films is open to all at no charge. This series is made possible by contributions to the Friends of Greenwich Library. Showtime is 8 pm. Doors open at 7:40 pm.

Black History Month, or National African American History Month, honors the achievements of black Americans and recognizes the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. To celebrate, Greenwich Library will present a series of film and music events in the Cole Auditorium.
